More Information on ‘Freedom of Religion’

This morning I made an entry concerning the US government and Freedom of Religion. I just stumbled over additional information that explains the VA’s reluctance to allow the religious symbol on grave markers:

‘I Choose Not To Vote’ May Soon Be a Ballot Option in Florida

The story, short as it is, is here. Too bad that the new option won’t be allowed to win the election. There are some elections where no candidate would be far better than any of the ones running. ‘Choices in Missouri were: John Ashcroft – Dead Man. And people in Missouri went: “I’m sorry, John, [...]

41 miles per gallon!

Tag-line of moderator grinch2171 on www.ozzu.com: A 2006 study found that the average American walks about 900 miles per year. Another study found that Americans drink an average of 22 gallons of beer per year. That means, on average, Americans get 41 miles per gallon. Isn’t that great!

“Fascist America, in 10 easy steps”

I don’t intend to get into politics very often on this blog, but sometimes it’s necessary. An article in a UK newspaper sums up what a lot of people have been warning us about since September of 2001. It’s an alarming look at how the Bush administration is undermining all of the checks and balances [...]

Freedom of Religion?

Many people in the US of A proudly state that it was founded on “freedom of religion,” a concept that is also enshrined as a human right by the United Nations. It is generally defined as “everyone is free to practice their own religion,” but many of those same people seem to interpret that slightly [...]

Amusing Skype “Spim”

I’d first heard about “spim” (spamming over instant message networks) nearly a year ago, if my hazy recollection is correct, but actual examples of it seemed to be pretty thin on the ground. Last week I actually got one, and the English is so bad that it’s hilarious:

I wear the pants in this family!

(This joke is here only as a reference. It’s used in the Cat Crap entry.)

Cat Crap, a Geek’s Solution

As the saying goes, cats make two things: baby cats, and cat poo. We have three feline friends, and while I haven’t seen any evidence of baby cats, I can certainly attest to the latter half of that statement. If you’re bored or offended by talk of the removal of feline waste products, don’t read [...]

Attack of the Ns!

www.myspace.com/donnnnnnnnnnnn Sheesh, Don… did you fall asleep on your keyboard while you were typing the name? And I know you claim you’re ancient to your twenty-something girls, but 99? I like the picture though. What’s that in the background, a big camera on a tripod? Looks very robotic. (Gak! Apparently you’ve got it set to [...]

RSS for sites that don’t support it

I use JP Software’s 4NT, a wonderful and much-improved command shell (it replaces Windows’ CMD.EXE). JP Software released a major version of it about six or seven months ago, and there have been about a dozen minor updates since. Unfortunately, they don’t have any way to automatically check when these updates come out… you have [...]
